Ms Tonie Yuen, an expert designer both in Western and Eastern floral arts, has practiced floral design for decades. She was trained as an Ikebana teacher in the Tokyo Sogetsu School, as a Dutch design demonstrator in Europe, and as a floral design commentator and garden designer in the United States. She was the pioneer in introducing professional floristry training to Hong Kong.

Ms Yuen teaches floral design classes in Hong Kong and once taught in the United States. She judges for floral design contests, both local and international. She demonstrates floral design programs on TV, in the annual Hong Kong Flower Show, and on many occasions in Mainland cities.

In recent years, she adjudicated in many nation-wide floral competitions and writes regularly for floral design columns in Mainland newspapers and magazines, as a dedication to promoting professional floral art in the Mainland. Ms Yuen has been awarded the Certificate of Commendation in 2010, under the Secretary for Home Affairs Commendation Scheme, for her outstanding and wholehearted dedication to the furtherance of floral arts and her active promotion of the Annual Hong Kong Flower Show.

Over the years, Ms Yuens students and graduates won hundreds of awards in the Hong Kong Flower Show, including many top prizes.

Ms Yuen has trained thousands of talents for Hong Kongs floristry trade. Many of them are active practitioners in floral education, flower shops, voluntary organizations and the Flower Market.
